This course provides a high-level overview of MPLS-TP. In order to position and compare MPLS-TP as a profile of MPLS, IP/MPLS is discussed, its functionality examined, and MPLS-based applications are identified and described. An overview of MPLS-TP leads into a more detailed high-level examination of the requirements of MPLS-TP, the architecture and utilisation of MPLS-TP, and the protocols used in the optional control plane and the management plane. Its OAM capabilities and network management requirements are examined. The concepts of pseudowire services over MPLS-TP are discussed.
