Overview

This course is the combined CXD2021 – Citrix XenDesktop 5 Administration (5 days) and the CXS2022 -Citrix XenServer 5.6 Administration (5 days). 10 days training accelerated into 5 days.

During the Citrix XenServer aspect of this exclusive training course to QA, students will learn skills necessary to configure and administer XenServer 5.6 and XenCenter. Through virtual labs, as well as demonstrations and the practical application of concepts, students will gain experience with:

  • Configuring a XenServer virtualization server
  • Managing a XenServer using XenCenter
  • Creating Windows and Linux virtual machines
  • Creating XenServer resource pools and connecting to remote storage
  • Using XenMotion and automatic virtual machine placement

The Citrix portion provides the foundation necessary for administrators to effectively centralise and manage desktops in the datacenter and deliver them as a service to users anywhere. Students will learn how to select a desktop delivery model for each user group based on their needs, build proof-of-concept and production XenDesktop environments, assign virtual desktops to users and customise the user experience through policies. This portion of the course also provides instruction on how to build a Provisioning services farm to enable single-image desktop management, and how to host virtual machines on the client device using Citrix XenClient:

Prerequisites

  • A basic knowledge of the purpose and goals of virtualisation technology

  • Basic experience installing and administering Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 and 2003.
  • Basic understanding of server, desktop and application virtualisation concepts
  • Basic experience installing and administering Linux variants
  • Intermediate knowledge of network devices and site architecture, including configuring vLANs
  • Basic knowledge of storage terminology and technologies, including partitions, SANs, LUNs, iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS file shares
