Course Duration: 2 Days

Course Code: PDN021

Course Description:

This 2-day VoIP training course looks at the benefits of Voice over IP technology to both small and large organisations, the major standards and present problems with Voice over IP installations. This course is excellent for anyone wishing to gain a solid introduction to this technology and also understand a roadmap for planning and implementation.

Through the power of VoIP traditional voice and data networks are combining to become a single organisational resource. The ability to route voice and data traffic over a single IP network is resulting in major cost savings as the separate network functions are combined within one multi-purpose entity.

Delegates attending this course will understand:

- Current Voice over IP Standards
- IP Telephony Principles and Applications
- Real time routing Protocols for VoIP delivery
- H.323
- SIP (Session Initiation Protocol)
- Quality of Service (QoS) Issues wihin VoIP deployments
- Multi-casting Options for VoIP Services
- Best Pratice for VoIP Projects

Alternative Training Courses in this area:

Delegates requiring a 'Hands On' introduction to Voice over IP should look at

Hands On Voice over IP

This training course offers the same content as this course, with Hands On labs covering service implementation, Quality of Service and troubleshooting.

Delegates from carrier and service provider backgrounds requiring an introduction to carrier class Voice over IP should look at:

Understanding Multiservice Access and H.248

Understanding MultiService Access and SIP

Both offer an examination of areas such as PPPoE/PPPoA, Session Border Control and Class 5 CPE.

Delivery Options:

For pubic scheduled dates please see the bottom of the outline. This course can also be run onsite at your location.

Prerequisites:

Delegates should have background knowledge of data-communications and IP. Some exposure to Voice communications is also helpful but not essential.
