Course Duration: 3 days

Course Code: GK6805

Course Description:

This 3 day instructor led event allows delegates to investigate the migration options available to Windows Vista.

As Microsoft rolls out it new major client and server operating systems in 2007, it's important to understand the potential benefits and costs of migrating to Vista and, later, to Longhorn Server. This event will allow delegates to get an overview of Vista and some of the key Vista/Longhorn synergies.

Delegates will be allowed to examine a test environment using Microsoft's latest virtual machine technology, and explore the new imaging tools as well as the new deployment service, WDS. In this intensive, lab-driven event delegates will get the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about an organization's move to Vista, including factors to consider when deciding to make the move, an accurate migration timetable, and a transition plan.

At the end of this course, delegates will learn:

  • How to successfully plan, test, and deploy Windows Vista in a networked environment
  • Set up a virtual test bed for testing Windows Vista deployment
  • Understand how the new system architecture of Windows Vista will impact your networked clients
  • Test and inventory potential application compatibility issues using the Application Compatibility Toolkit
  • Configure Windows Vista's new file-based images using ImageX and Windows System Image Manager
