View course dates

Course Duration: 5 days

Course Code: PWL018

Course Description:

Once Television could only be received over the air, via cable or via satellite. Today TV can be delivered over Internet Protocol (IP) services as well. Indeed many broadband carriers are offering Triple-Play networks where voice telephone, TV and Internet access are carried over the same network. Even Cable and Satellite operators now wish to converge towards this new common IP approach to enable delivery of TV to mobile phones and PCs as well as High Definition TV sets.

To be successful in this new technology, knowledge of both television and networking technologies is necessary. This course will provide these skills using 'hands-on' exercises in a classroom setting allowing attendees to Send and Receive IPTV over in-class networks.

Delegates on this course will complete 'Hands On' sessions which will enable them to:

- Install and use an IPTV Streaming application to stream TV
- Install and use an IPTV Client to play multicast IPTV
- Install and use a protocol analyser to decode and troubleshoot multicast protocols
- Monitor Layer 2 LAN Multicasting
- Hands-on configuring routers to carry PIM Sparse Mode multicast
- Monitor Layer 3 multicast streams
- Implementing QoS using Weighted Fair Queuing
- Implementing Link aggregation to improve bandwidth and reliability
- Implement Hot Stand-by Routing Protocol

Prerequisites:

Delegates should have a good understanding of IP and data networks. This can be gained by attending Hands On TCP/IP and Internet Protocols. Other relevent prerequisites include Cisco CCNA or Comptia N+.
