Course Description:

During this five day instructor led hands on course, participants will learn to describe the hardware and software components of the Cisco MDS 9000 product family, including key technologies and feature, and to install, configure, and troubleshoot MDS 9000 switches and key features.

 

- Given a SAN environment, the learner will identify the components, services, and features of the MDS 9000 platform that can be used to improve the availability, scalability, performance, and manageability of the SAN.
- Given an MDS 9000 switch, the learner will safely install the switch hardware and performthe initial software configuration process.
- Given a SAN design, the learner will implement the logical topology specified by the SAN design, so that connectivity between end devices can verified.
- Given a SAN design, the learner will configure basic traffic management services to control and optimize the folowof traffic through the SAN.
- Given a SAN environment, the learner will configure security services to provide the apporpriate level of secuirty for the SAN environment.
- Given a SAN environment, the learner will use the appropriate MDS 9000 diagnostic tools to diagnose common SAN problems.

Prerequisites:

Delegates are required to meet the following prerequisites:

Understanding of basic storage components and protocols such as networked storage devices, direct attached storage (DAS), fibre channel based storage area networks (SAN), and network attached storage (NAS).
