Course Description:
This course provides an intensive lecture and hands-on training experience with Cisco's Wide Area File Services products. This course is intended for technical audiences including Cisco and Channel Engineers as well as Customers that are involved in the installation, configuration and maintenance of Cisco's WAFS products. The class format will alternate between lectures, whiteboard discussions and hands-on lab exercises.
After completing this course the delegate will be able to:
- Describe the features and benefits of WAFS and define its associated terminology
- Describe the fundamentals of Microsoft Windows Networking
- Describe the features and benefits of CIFS
- Describe the features and benefits of NFS
- Describe the technical operation of WAFS
- Install and Upgrade a WAFS implementation
- Deploy traditional and WCCP solutions
- Configure a WAFS Central Manager
- Administer the File Engine
- Operate and troubleshoot an End-User implementation
- Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to WAFS problems
Prerequisites:
To fully benefit from this course, delegates should have the following prerequisite skills and knowledge:
- TCP / IP stack and configuring IP addresses
- Windows Networking Understanding
- Windows name resolution
- Working knowledge of routing
- DNS configuration and operation
- Operating and configuring a Cisco router
- Networking terms, numbering schemes and topologies
