Course Duration: 1 day

Course Code: N3066

Course Description:

Course 3066 introduces students to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9. The class compares the SUSE Linux 10.0 (desktop) and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (server) products from Novell and addresses the basic differences between managing Windows and Linux servers.

Following this high-level introduction, students install SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on their own hardware and learn how to obtain support for their installations. The course finishes with instruction on using the YaST management utility, unique to SUSE Linux, which simplifies standard tasks such as managing user and group accounts, installing and configuring printers, installing Linux software packages and accessing system updates and security fixes.

- Entry-level or experienced network administrators interested in adding Linux servers to their enterprise networks

- IT professionals curious about adding Linux servers to a network, replacing proprietary servers in a network or managing Linux servers and performing standard network tasks easily

Upon completion of this training, students will be able to install SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 and set up a system for further tests. They will also be able to use the Linux desktop and administer Linux with the YaST management utility.
