Course Description:

This course provides students with an excellent foundation upon which to build their network training. It covers the basics of computer networking. Students learn how protocols are used in networking implementations from many vendors, especially those most common in today's LANs and WANs. This course is an introduction to computer networking technologies.

Prerequisites:

Students should have an understanding of personal computers and their operating system

• Services, Message Services, Application Services, Database Services
• Evaluate implementation of five common network services according to a given organisational scenario and evaluate implementation of common cable and wireless transmission media according to a given organisational scenario network and internetwork con
• Identify and compare common cable and wireless transmission media with their characteristic cost, ease of installation and reconfiguration, capacity, attenuation of transmission distance limitations, and immunity from interference, and describe commo
• Categorise numerous networking processes and implementation methods using the OSI Reference Model as a conceptual framework
• Given an organisational scenario and a specific business need and network problem, identify the individual protocols that provide the required service, and cause or solve the problem
• Given the common network protocol suites and their addressing rules, design an internetwork for a given organisational scenario
