Course Duration: 5 days

Course Code: PWS087

Course Description:

This course charts the requirements and developments in Next Generation Networks, to allow the convergence of Voice, Data and Multimedia networks. It describes the key technologies involved in this deployment including: Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), MPLS, DiffServ, RSVP, RTP and the H.323 protocol suite. Through the use of real-life examples, the techniques and protocols involved in the deployment of an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), for both fixed and mobile networks, are examined. SIGTRAN is also discussed to show integration with legacy PSTN and GSM systems.

After attending this course you will understand:

- The roadmap to NGN deployment
- The key NGN services available
- Using SigTRAN to integrate legacy networks
- The importance of SIP
- IMS architecture, security, signalling
- Quality of Service (Q0S) considerations

The course examines real-life examples from leading service providers deploying NGNs.

Prerequisites:

A basic understanding of mobile telephony and a sound understanding of fixed-line telecommunication technologies, together with a basic concept of data communications and the Internet. The course is suitable for engineers, developers and technical sales delegates who require a technical overview of these new technologies. Also anyone who is looking to rollout or use a NGN or IMS platform, or engineers who need to interact with this type of platform.
