Course Description:


The five-day Microsoft DynamicsT GP Manufacturing course on the Microsoft Dynamics GP Manufacturing Series helps prepare students to set up and begin to use Manufacturing. This comprehensive course will provide you with an in-depth view of the extensive functionality contained within the Microsoft Dynamics GP Manufacturing Series. Besides learning the functionality, you will also learn tips and techniques that will help make your implementation successful, and you will gain a thorough understanding of the Microsoft Dynamics GP Manufacturing Applications and its capabilities.

 

Partners that are assisting customers with Microsoft Dynamics GP Manufacturing Series implementations, support or performing sales product demonstrations are encouraged to attend this class. Customer employees that will be using the Microsoft Dynamics GP Manufacturing Series are encouraged to attend this class.


Prerequisites:

Before attending this course, students should have:

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP.
- You must be proficient with the Inventory Control, Sales Order Processing and Purchase Order Processing modules. A Distribution Series training course is available to assist you with gaining this knowledge prior to attending this Manufacturing class.


This course includes the following modules:

Module Integration and Process Overview

  • The goal of this chapter is to provide students with a list of the Manufacturing modules and how they integrate with the Distribution modules.

Prerequisities - Inventory Control

  • This chapter focuses on the setup that must be done to facilitate the integration of processing between the Inventory module in the core Microsoft Dynamics GP application and the corresponding information in Manufacturing.

Prerequisites - Bill of Materials

  • This chapter examines the setup of Bills of Materials (BOMs). Important concepts are the BOM Types and BOM Categories available. Time will be spent on the maintenance of the BOMs after they have been created.

Prerequisites - Manufacturing Facility

  • This chapter examines how to setup your facilities for manufacturing. This includes Labor Codes, Machines and Work Centers.

Prerequisites - Routings

  • This chapter explains the processes and steps to create and maintain Routings. Other topics covered are the tools for creating many routings with similar steps and the concept of BOM Routing links.

Execution - Standard Costing

  • In this chapter, the two methods available for maintaining standard costs are discussed. Tables used for standard costing are introduced. Various factors affecting the costing of items are outlined.

Execution - Manufacturing Order Processing

  • This chapter examines the processing of Manufacturing Orders (MOs) from start to finish. The statuses of MOs will be covered. There will be discussion of the different processing that occurs when components are backflushed and issued

Execution - Outsourcing

  • This chapter shows how to setup and utilize the Outsourcing functionality to track the outside services which add value to the finished product. Outsourcing includes touch points in the windows associated with MO processing and Purchase Order Processing.

Execution - Sales Order Processing

  • During this chapter the Sales Order Processing windows will be discussed in relation to Manufacturing. The additional fields that are provided my Manufacturing to track order fulfillment information will also be reviewed.

Execution - Sales Configurator

  • In this chapter, the Sales Configurator module is explained. This includes the setup of Super BOMs using various tools and the creation of Configured BOMs.

Planning - Material Requirements Planning

  • In this chapter, the Material Requirements Processing (MRP) regeneration process will be discussed. Detailed attention will be given to the variables used to include items in the processing. The windows available for viewing the MRP data will be explained.
