Course Description:

The Microsoft .NET Framework offers a large and comprehensive development library and runtime environment for writing enterprise and desktop applications. Much has been made of the ease of use of ASP.NET and Windows Forms and the development languages. However, you need to dig a little deeper when you want to write a large scale, robust application.

This course will guide you through the classes and tools that you will be working with when you delve beyond the user interface, providing you with the insight and knowledge that is needed to write great .NET applications.

This course features Microsoft Visual Studio 2003 with .NET Framework 1.1.

Practical exercises are used to consolidate the information learned during the lecture sessions, multimedia presentations and demonstrations. All demonstration, exercise and solution code is provided on an accompanying CD, which also includes an electronic version of the extensive course book.

Note: This course is taught in both C# and Visual Basic .NET.

Prerequisites:

This course is intended for experienced software developers, primarily from a Microsoft Visual Basic or Microsoft Visual C++ background, who are using Visual Studio .NET, Visual Studio 2003 or Visual Studio 2005, and who need to gain a solid understanding of how to use the .NET Framework to develop the core of a large scale application.

This course will also help you to prepare for parts of the core MCAD and MCSD .NET exams.

Delegates must have at least three to six months experience working with C# or Visual Basic .NET.

Delegates should also be familiar with Windows Forms, ASP.NET and ADO.NET: this knowledge can be gained by attending Developing Applications with the .NET Framework using Visual Basic.NET (QAVBDNF-1) or Developing Applications with the .NET Framework using C# (QACSDNF-1)
Prior exposure to XML, COM or MTS/COM+ would be an advantage.
