The Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 credential is the premier certification for professionals who implement and administer Microsoft SQL Server databases. The certification is appropriate for individuals who derive physical database designs, develop logical data models, create physical databases, create data services by using Transact-SQL, manage and maintain databases, configure and manage security, monitor and optimize databases, and install and configure SQL Server.
The MCDBA on SQL Server 2000 certification is appropriate for:
- Database administrators.
- Database analysts.
- Database developers.
By earning the premier MCDBA on SQL Server 2000 credential, individuals are demonstrating that they have the skills necessary to lead organizations in the successful design, implementation, and administration of SQL Server databases.
MCDBA on SQL Server 2000 candidates should have at least one year of experience working with SQL Server.
How to earn your Microsoft Certified Database Administrator Certification
Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 candidates need to pass three core exams and one elective exam that provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise in the implementation and administration of Microsoft SQL Server databases.
MCDBAs on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 are not required to pass Microsoft Windows Server 2003 exams to retain MCDBA certification. The Microsoft Windows 2000 Server exams and the Windows Server 2003 exams for the MCDBA on SQL Server 2000 certification remain available concurrently.
Core exams (three exams required)
MCDBA candidates are required to pass one SQL Server administration exam (70-228) and one SQL Server design exam (70-229). In addition, MCDBA candidates have the option to pass either one Windows 2000 Server or one Windows Server 2003 exam (70-290, 70-291 or 70-215) to fulfill the networking systems core requirement.
Elective exams (one exam required)
In addition to the core exam requirements, you must also pass one elective exam (70-216, 70-293, 70-528, 70-526, 70-529, 70-305, 70-306, 70-310, 70-315, 70-316, or 70-320) that provides proof of expertise with a specific Microsoft server product.
