Overview:
The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certification will advance your career by ensuring that you have the skills to successfully manage and troubleshoot system environments running on the Microsoft Windows operating system.
The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 credential offers new starters in an IT Desktop and Server environment the perfect way to develop their potential. Here's why MCSA can be the right choice for you.
It’s relevant. Get started by proving your networking skills with Exams 70-290 and 70-291. Both exams are required and each exam has training available today.
It’s adaptable. Choose the desktop and elective exams suited to your needs. We recommend Exam 70-270 for the desktop requirement and selected CompTIA exams for the elective for those new to IT or selected Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) exams for the elective for those with IT experience.
It’s valuable. The MCSA certification was introduced in October 2001. Within the first five months, over 22,000 individuals had earned the certification, making it the fastest-growing Microsoft certification.
Choose the MCSA credential if you:
Related job titles: systems administrator, network administrator, information systems administrator, network operations analyst, network technician, or technical support specialist.
How to Earn Your MCSA: on Windows Server 2003 certification
Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) candidates on the Windows Server 2003 track are required to satisfy the following requirements:
Core exams (three exams required)
- Two networking system exams (70-290 & 70-291)
- One client operating system exam (70-620, 70-270, or 70-210)
Elective exams (one exam required)
Together with the core exams, the elective exams provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise to successfully manage and maintain the typically complex computing environment of medium-to-large-sized companies. (One exam from: 70-089, 70-227, 70-228, 70-235, 70-236, 70-262, 70-284, 70-229, 70-350, 70-431, 70-445, 70-500, 70-501, 70-620, 70-624, 70-630, or 70-631)
MCSA candidates should have 6 to 12 months of experience administering client and network operating systems.
Microsoft has designed an upgrade path that will enable a current MCSA on Windows 2000 to earn the Windows Server 2003 credential in a time-effective and cost-effective manner. The upgrade exam for an MCSA on Windows 2000 is Microsoft Exam 70-292.
